ibnchannel.id – The additional collective leave provided by the government for the Eid al-Adha holiday, which falls on June 6, 2025, once again offers a fresh opportunity for the public to travel and take vacations. This has been anticipated by the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport by optimizing airport service operations.
Acting General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Wahyudi, stated that long weekends have a positive impact on passenger traffic. “Last May, the number of passengers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport was the highest so far, reaching 2,040,309. One of the drivers was the two long weekends in May, during Waisak and Ascension of Jesus Christ,” he said.
“Based on existing trends, we expect an increase during this Eid al-Adha holiday as well. According to our calculations and historical data, we estimate that more than 339,523 passengers will pass through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport from June 5 to June 9, or an average of 67,905 passenger movements per day—an increase of 10 percent compared to regular days. For this reason, we have prepared several strategic steps to ensure smooth operations and comfort for all airport users,” he added. The peak of passenger numbers is expected on Sunday, June 8, 2025, with 75,199 passenger movements.
The measures being implemented include enhanced monitoring at key service points, particularly those prone to causing queues, maintaining smooth vehicle and passenger flow for arrivals and departures at both domestic and international terminals, coordinating with airlines and ground handling to ensure on-time flight schedules, and ensuring the readiness and availability of all airport operational facilities.
During the Ascension of Jesus Christ long weekend period, from May 29 to June 1, 2025, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport recorded 277,703 arriving and departing passengers, with the highest count of 75,150 passenger movements on June 1, 2025. The average daily passenger traffic during this period reached 69,425.
Aligned with the expected increase in passenger traffic during long weekends, the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is also preparing for the upcoming school holiday and summer holiday seasons. “Bali is about to enter its peak season—school holidays for domestic tourists and the summer holiday period, which attracts international tourists. Last year during this period, we served an average of 69,000 to over 73,000 passengers per day. We are currently coordinating with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that all aspects of airport services remain well-managed,” Wahyudi explained.
During these peak travel periods, Wahyudi advised the public to pay close attention to their departure times and arrive at the airport at least 2-3 hours before their flight. “To avoid long queues, we encourage passengers to use online check-in, ensure their carry-on items are safe for air travel, and have all travel documents prepared to facilitate smooth security checks at the airport. This way, their journey through the airport can be more seamless and comfortable,” he concluded.***
