ibnchannel.id – Land plays a crucial role, not only as an economic resource, but also as a foundation for justice and sustainable living together. As the demand for land increases, the challenge of ensuring equitable access and use becomes even greater.

To address this challenge, the Land Bank Agency held the Landsmart Campus Series at the Lecture Hall, Udayana University, Bali, on Thursday (September 11, 2025). Through this event, the Land Bank Agency affirmed its commitment to providing inclusive land governance and supporting the realization of a just and sustainable economy.

The Head of the Land Bank Agency, Parman, explained that the Land Bank Agency is a special institution (sui generis) mandated to manage land to create a just economy. Within the national land ecosystem, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) acts as a land administrator and regulator, while the Land Bank Agency serves as a land manager, focusing on productive and equitable land management and use.

The Land Bank Agency’s duties include providing land for public and social interests, national development, economic equality, land consolidation, and agrarian reform. This strategic role has been realized in various concrete programs, such as providing land for housing for Low-Income Communities (MBR) in Kendal and Brebes (Central Java), land for the VVIP IKN Airport and section 5B of the IKN toll road in North Penajam Paser (East Kalimantan), and land use by private legal entities of various business scales.

“Today’s theme aligns with the Land Bank Agency’s mandate to manage land for the benefit of the community. To date, the Land Bank Agency has managed more than 34,618 hectares of land utilized for various important needs, from infrastructure development and providing social facilities to supporting economic equality,” explained Parman.

Furthermore, Parman emphasized that the outreach activity at Udayana University was a crucial opportunity to directly convey the Land Bank Agency’s duties and functions while also fostering synergy with the academic world.

“We recognize that the Land Bank Agency’s success cannot be achieved alone. Collaboration with the central government and regional governments, as well as support from universities, is key to successful land management in Indonesia. Therefore, we invite all participants to use this forum as a space for reflective, open, and constructive dialogue. We hope this synergy can continue to be strengthened in supporting inclusive and sustainable national development,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., emphasized that land management is not only an economic issue, but also concerns community welfare and environmental sustainability. In Bali, land has a broader meaning, encompassing cultural identity and maintaining social harmony.

“Udayana University is committed to playing an active role, both through research and human resource development, so that land management can provide real benefits to the community,” he said.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Bali Provincial National Land Agency (BPN), I Made Daging, emphasized that the collaboration between the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/BPN and the Land Bank Agency is expected to play a significant role in land management in Indonesia.

“To address land ownership inequality, the government is striving to optimize land use for sustainable development. This aims to achieve justice and public welfare, ensuring that land provides the greatest benefits. The National Land Agency (BPN) plays a significant role in realizing equitable land management in Indonesia, while the Land Bank Agency (BPN) is present to encourage more equitable, productive, and sustainable land use,” he concluded.

The MoU was also signed between the BPN and Udayana University. This collaboration opens opportunities for Udayana University students to engage in internships, applied research, and innovation. The event continued with a talk show featuring Dr. Yudi Kristiana, S.H., M.Hum. (Head of the Legal Division of the BPN) and Dr. Jimmy Zeravianus Usfunan, S.H., M.H. (Lecturer in Law at Udayana University), moderated by Dr. Oce Madril (Legal Academic). **
