ibnchannel.id – Dry eyes are common in Indonesia, with an estimated 27.5% of the population affected. Dry eyes, or dry eye syndrome, develop when the tear film in the eye is disrupted, preventing the eye from receiving adequate lubrication.

This can be caused by a number of risk factors, including being over 50 years old, particularly for postmenopausal women, having a history of eye surgery or other diseases that can cause dry eyes, using certain medications, both oral and eye drops, wearing contact lenses, and having metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus.

As a concrete step in response to this situation, JEC BALI @ Denpasar, part of the JEC Eye Hospitals & Clinics network, which has been serving the Indonesian people for 41 years, now offers a new service: Dry Eye Spa — a modern and comprehensive solution for the increasingly common problem of dry eye.

To introduce its latest service, “Dry Eye Services,” JEC BALI held a talk show featuring JEC BALI eye specialists with expertise in dry eye. The talk show, presented by ophthalmologists such as Dr. Anggasari Dewi, SpM, Dr. Eka Naryati, SpM, and Dr. Widya Mahadewi, SpM, provided education on the symptoms, treatment, and prevention of dry eye.

The talk show was held at LEVEL 21 Mall Denpasar, and was open to the general public. JEC BALI hopes that by providing education about dry eye, the public, especially Balinese, will be more aware of early symptoms of eye disease. This, in turn, can prevent the development of more severe eye disease. Early detection provides opportunities for people to have beautiful, healthy eyes.

Added by the Director of PT JEC BALI Vision, Dr. Cokorda Istri Dewiyani Pemayun, SpM (K) “Optimizing vision and quality of life” is a big vision that JEC has continued to strive for since its establishment in 1984. We believe that the eye is a very vital sense for humans. Loss of vision due to public ignorance about early symptoms can cause a decrease or even the disappearance of a person’s productivity.

Because sufferers must depend on others to carry out their daily activities. Even though the effects of eye disease are classified as conditions that can be rehabilitated. Many people do not have access to adequate treatment. The existence of the newest service in the form of a dry eye service is a real realization of JEC Bali’s concern to increase public awareness about dry eye symptoms.”

Multifactorial in nature, dry eye is a disease or disorder of the ocular surface characterized by a loss of balance and stability of tear components, as well as damage or inflammation of the ocular surface. Symptoms experienced by dry eye sufferers generally begin with eye discomfort—such as a feeling of blockage, frequent redness, watering, a dry feeling, a gritty sensation, discharge, a sticky feeling, and frequent eye rubbing.

“Many people think dry eyes are simply uncomfortable, but if left untreated, they can disrupt quality of life and productivity. Through Dry Eye Spa, we aim to provide comprehensive, comfortable, and personalized treatment for each patient,” explained Dr. Luh Gede Anggasari Dewi, SpM, an ophthalmologist specializing in dry eye services at JEC BALI @ Denpasar.

The new Eye Spa treatment is part of the integrated dry eye facility: JEC Dry Eye Service at JEC BALI @ Denpasar. With the support of experienced doctors in their field, as well as complete and modern diagnostic and therapeutic equipment, JEC BALI @ Denpasar is ready to become the primary partner for the Balinese people in maintaining their eye health with high-standard services, without having to travel outside the island.
