ibnchannel. id – The management of the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park has decided to move several points on the boundary wall at the park’s south entrance. This followed a meeting with the Governor of Bali, the Regent of Badung, and numerous regional government organizations (OPD) to discuss the GWK Cultural Park boundary barrier, which has been a source of worry.
According to a press statement from the GWK Cultural Park, PT Garuda Adhimatra Indonesia (GAIN), the park’s manager, plans to relocate various spots on the boundary wall near the park’s south gate. Although the land within the GWK area legally belongs to the firm, the management recognizes the community’s need for road access.
“At the company’s choice, we will reopen the outer barrier. GWK is committed to the area’s sustainability, but it must be done in peace with the local population,” said PT GAIN President Commissioner Sang Nyoman Suwisma in a news release issued by the GWK Cultural Park on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.
Previously, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, the Governor of Bali, the Regent of Badung, and various leaders of regional government agencies (OPD) met with PT GAIN. According to IndoBaliNews, Bali Governor Wayan Koster has directed the GWK Cultural Park administration to promptly destroy the wall that is preventing residents from accessing the park, notably in the Banjar Giri Dharma area, Ungasan Village, South Kuta, Badung Regency.

Governor Koster’s instruction aligns with the stance of Badung Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa. The Regent supports Governor Koster’s decision, and both agreed that the process of dismantling the wall, which blocks access for residents, be completed as quickly as possible to restore comfort for residents. Koster also reportedly reminded the management of the GWK Cultural Park to be friendly, open, and build harmonious relationships with the local community.
Since its inception, the GWK Cultural Park has not only served as a tourism icon but also as a home for hundreds of workers, most of whom are local Balinese. Beyond employing workers, the GWK Cultural Park has also had a positive economic impact and fostered the growth of MSMEs in the surrounding area.
As an international cultural and tourism destination, the GWK Cultural Park not only supports tourism and the economy but also fosters camaraderie with the local community, maintains harmony, and upholds local wisdom. Various cultural programs, such as the Ogoh-Ogoh Festival and the Penjor Festival, have become annual events at the GWK Cultural Park to support Balinese culture.
The GWK Cultural Park serves as a symbol and source of pride for the Indonesian people, promoting Indonesian culture, especially Balinese. Several international events have been held in the GWK area, including the G20 Welcoming Dinner in 2022 and the World Water Forum Welcoming Dinner in 2024. ***
