Public attention peaked at the UIM F1H2O World Championship – Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025, which featured an intense battle among the world’s fastest powerboat racers on Saturday (August 23) – Sunday (August 24).
Canadian racer Rusty Wyatt (Sharjah Team/UAE License) emerged as the champion after mastering 24 laps with an impressive record time. He outperformed his teammate, Alec Weckström from Victory Team, who finished second, as well as young British racer Ben Jelf, who secured third place on the podium.
Organizing Committee Chairman of The Lake Toba GP/ITDC Director of Operations, Troy Warokka, expressed his appreciation for the smooth execution of the event. “The success of The Lake Toba GP 2025 proves that Indonesia is capable of hosting world-class water sports events with international standards. This event also serves as an important momentum to promote Lake Toba as a leading tourist destination.”
The success of the event was not only marked by the excitement of the F1H2O race, but also by a series of other programs included in The Lake Toba GP 2025, such as the UIM-ABP Aquabike Endurance & Class Pro Circuit World Championship, which brought together world-class jet ski riders in various competition categories from Wednesday (August 13) to Sunday (August 17). The Lake Toba GP 2025 managed to attract around 120,000 visitors.
Beyond the thrilling races, The Lake Toba GP 2025 also featured performances from national artists such as Cokelat Band, Radja, and Marsada. The event also involved 16 local MSMEs around the venue, offering culinary booths, handicrafts, and creative products unique to Toba. Their presence not only enriched the visitor experience but also provided a direct economic impact on the surrounding community.
