ibnchannel.id – Anticipating and responding to the high public enthusiasm for traveling during the school holiday and summer holiday period, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali recorded a significant surge in passenger and flight movements. In July, the island’s main gateway served a total of 2,356,143 people — the highest figure in 2025. Domestic routes accounted for 891,466 passengers or 38 percent of the total, while the remaining 62 percent, or 1,464,677 passengers, were on international routes.
On a daily average, during that period there were 76,005 passengers traveling through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport — an increase of 22 percent compared to the first semester’s daily average of 63,117 passengers per day.
In addition to the significant growth in passenger numbers, flight traffic during the same period also increased. In July, there were 13,127 aircraft movements, consisting of 6,070 domestic flights and 7,057 international flights. The average daily aircraft traffic reached 423 movements. Compared to the January–June 2025 daily average of 381 flights, this represents an 11 percent growth.
General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, stated that the increase had been anticipated in advance through intensive coordination with all airport stakeholders and relevant agencies.
“We are seeing a positive trend at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport because July is still part of the school holiday and summer holiday period. The public demand for vacations to Bali remains very high. Compared to other long holiday periods, such as New Year or Eid al-Fitr 2025, which ranged from 62,000 to 72,000 passengers per day, the July average exceeded 76,000 passengers per day. This is the highest daily average of 2025,” he said.
“In fact, based on the data we compiled, at the peak of the school holiday return flow, we served more than 79,000 passengers with 441 aircraft movements, both arrivals and departures, which occurred on July 11, 2025,” he added.
Overall, from January to July 2025, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has served 13,780,388 passengers, consisting of 5,076,296 domestic passengers and 8,704,092 international passengers. The total number of flights was 82,018 movements, including 36,838 domestic flights and 45,180 international flights.
The top three most popular routes based on passenger numbers and flights were Jakarta (Cengkareng) in first place with 416,526 passengers and 2,158 aircraft movements; Singapore in second place with 274,555 passengers and 1,102 aircraft movements; and Kuala Lumpur in third place with 165,507 passengers from 902 flights.
Amid the heavy passenger and flight traffic, the management of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport continues to maintain safety, security, and service standards.
“In providing services, of course, we often encounter various challenges, but we continue to strive to give our best. As part of our responsibility to service users, we are fully committed to continuously improving the quality of service, security, and flight safety,” he concluded.***
