ibnchannel.id – A 11-year old pianist Amenangi Sadali Nitsara Wawo Runtu is holding his solo recital debut titled “LET’S SWING” at Sheraton Ballroom, Kuta, Bali, on August 24, 2025. The rising young talent from Bali will be accompanied by the Amabile Chamber Orchestra.
The concert will play 11 pieces, which presents a joyful yet profound musical journey through the works of Bach, Beethoven, Rameau, Brahms, and many more. The concert aims to shift public perception of classical music, often labeled as complex and heavy, by inviting audiences to experience its beauty in an accessible, youthful, and dynamic way.
“Playing 11 pieces is the first time I played because I never played that much pieces before. Only in performances, I only played two or one competitions is also two or one, but the first competition that I had four was in Steinway competition. Playing 11 pieces is quite difficult if I don’t have help from my teachers,” Amenangi said at the press conference for his upcoming solo recital at Tandjung Sari Hotel, Sanur, Denpasar, on Monday, August 4, 2025.
He thought the assistance and guidance from his piano teachers and jazz friends had made a significant improvement to him and boosted his confidence.
“So when I really got lots of help from my teachers and all my friends from jazz, they helped me to build up my courage for playing alongside them and especially playing with the orchestra when I’m new with the people. But we, me and them, we fix each other like asking questions and answer this has to be like that and this has to be with Ms. Justina helping us, it’s being more steady and playing with the orchestra,” he said, who practices the piano 3-4 hours daily.
Born in Denpasar in 2013, Amenangi began his piano journey at the age of six, receiving dual training in both classical and jazz traditions. Since early 2025, under the dedicated mentorship of Justina Tjandra, founder of Amabile Studio in Denpasar, he has undergone intensive preparation, sharpening his technique, musical interpretation, and stage presence in pursuit of this ambitious debut performance at just eleven years old.
Amenangi’s father, Agustiawan Wawo Runtu (Concert Director at Yayasan Tandjung Sari), who was at the press conference, said that his son began the piano journey quite early in classical and jazz. In his opinion, the two disciplines has shaped Amenangi’s musicianship.
“Since the age of six, he has studied not only classical music but also jazz. These two disciplines, as he puts it in English, have shaped his musicianship. As a musician, he already possesses a foundation that is quite intricate and complex. I believe that’s why Amenangi has been able to progress this far,” he said.
“But beyond that, aside from his genuine love for playing the piano, his perseverance stands out. Talent alone is not enough—without practicing three to four hours a day, it would be impossible to reach this level. That’s the kind of discipline he has,” he continued.
Outside of his studies at SMP Cendia Harapan, Jimbaran, Amenangi enjoys surfing and painting, pursuits that reflect a harmonious balance of discipline, humility, and creative spirit. He embodies the resilient, multifaceted character of a new generation of Balinese artists.
Amenangi is also supported by Yayasan Tandjung Sari. The foundation is committed to supporting young, talented artists and providing them with a meaningful platform. “LET’S SWING” marks the foundation’s first step in supporting classical and jazz piano talent through Amenangi’s debut performance.
Founded in 1987, Yayasan Tandjung Sari honors and commemorates the legacy of Balinese dance maestro, I Ni Ketut Reneng. Initially focused on preserving the Pelegongan tradition, the foundation has since expanded its attention to various forms of performance art from across Indonesia.***
