Governor Koster Leads Tumpek Uye Ceremony and Conservation Efforts

ibnchannel.id – Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, performed a prayer ceremony in commemoration of Tumpek Uye at Pura Sakenan, Serangan Island, Denpasar, on Saturday (July 12). Tumpek Uye is part of the local wisdom of Sad Kerthiand is observed as a sacred day to honor animals, as well as a moment to strengthen awareness of maintaining harmony between humans and the universe.

The event was also attended by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Dewa Made Indra, heads of regional departments within the Bali Provincial Government, and echelon III officials of the provincial administration.

After the prayer ceremony, the Governor of Bali led several environmental conservation activities, including tree planting, bird release, observation of rabies vaccination, and the release of sea turtle hatchlings (tukik) at Tiga Beach in the Serangan BTID Special Economic Zone.

The tree planting was carried out within the Pura Sakenan area, involving species such as cempaka, sawo kecik, nagasari, matoa, and nyamplung. These five types of trees were chosen for their high ecological value and symbolic meaning in Balinese culture, representing purity, nature protection, and environmental harmony.

Following the activities at Pura Sakenan, heads of departments from the Bali Provincial Government released 200 turtle hatchlings into the sea. This was part of efforts to conserve endangered wildlife.

The hatchlings originated from the Sari Segara Community Surveillance Group (Pokmaswas), which operates under the Bali Provincial Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and is based in Kesiman Kertalangu Village, East Denpasar District, Denpasar City.

The turtle release activity received an official recommendation from the Head of the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) through letter number 191/BKSDA BALI/PPTSL.03.01/B/07/2025 regarding the Recommendation for Turtle Release.

Through this series of activities, the Bali Provincial Government demonstrated its concrete commitment to maintaining ecosystem balance, conserving fauna and flora, and strengthening local wisdom values as a foundation for sustainable development in accordance with the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali.***
