ibnchannel.id – I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport has increased the frequency of flights on the Adelaide, Australia route with the launch of Indonesia AirAsia’s new Adelaide–Denpasar–Adelaide service on Thursday (June 26). This new route is expected to further strengthen connectivity between Bali and Australia.

“Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport serves 9 direct flight routes to and from Australia: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Canberra, Darwin, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. We believe this additional frequency will positively impact passenger traffic between Australia and Bali,” he explained.
On its inaugural flight, Indonesia AirAsia operated an Airbus A320 with flight number QZ 420, departing from Denpasar to Adelaide on Wednesday (June 25) at 11:45 PM local time (WITA), carrying 77 passengers.
The return flight, QZ 421, landed in Denpasar on Thursday (June 26) at 11:00 AM WITA with 154 passengers on board. This route is scheduled to operate four times per week.
“This inaugural Adelaide flight also coincides with the school holiday season in Indonesia, which runs from June 23 to July 14, 2025. We hope the additional frequency will also attract more Indonesian tourists, particularly from Bali, to visit Adelaide,” Wahyudi added.
Proud to Launch the Route
Meanwhile, Acting CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman, expressed pride in launching the route.
“We are proud to introduce Indonesia AirAsia’s first flight from Bali to Adelaide. In addition to direct access to Bali, which remains a favorite destination, this new service also expands connectivity to over 130 destinations within the AirAsia network across Asia and beyond,” he said.
As of May 2025, Australia ranks as the top country for international tourist arrivals at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, with a total of 629,359 passengers. The Melbourne route is among the busiest, serving 449,952 passengers.
With a total of 9 direct international routes, Australia is the country with the most flight connections from Ngurah Rai Airport.
