ibnchannel.id – The Minister of Law of the Republic of Indonesia, Supratman Andi Agtas, welcomed the commitment of the Singaporean government regarding the extradition/mutual legal assistance (MLA) agreement between the two countries. The Minister sees this as a progressive step in diplomatic relations that is mutually beneficial and upholds the rule of law between both nations.
“One of the key points conveyed during the meeting between the Prime Minister of Singapore and the President was the extradition agreement between Indonesia and Singapore. The Singaporean government is committed to implementing the signed agreement,” said Supratman when asked by reporters.
Furthermore, the Minister expressed optimism that the Singaporean government’s commitment to the extradition/MLA agreement would serve as a positive momentum for both countries to coordinate and cooperate across borders in upholding the law.
The Minister of Law attended and accompanied President Prabowo Subianto during the high-level bilateral Leader’s Retreat with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at Parliament House, Singapore, on Monday (June 16).
During the visit, led directly by President Prabowo Subianto, several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed.
These were related to the development of environmentally friendly energy covering clean electricity trade, cross-border carbon capture and storage (CCS), and the development of a green industrial cluster in the Riau Islands Province.
In addition, a memorandum of understanding was also signed in the areas of food security and agricultural technology, including youth farmer development programs and the exchange of best practices.
“In regard to all of these MoUs, the Ministry of Law will definitely provide support, including for those related to Danantara, energy and mineral resources (ESDM), housing, and food,” he said.
