ibnchannel.id – The Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Dewa Made Indra, officially opened the Bali QRIS Summer Run 2025, organized by the Bali Provincial Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI). The lively event took place at Puputan Renon Field, Denpasar, on Sunday morning (June 15) and was attended by 1,500 participants, all of whom used QRIS for both registration and transactions.

In his opening remarks, Dewa Made Indra expressed appreciation to BI Bali for this positive initiative that combines sports, financial education, and environmental awareness.

“On behalf of the Bali Provincial Government, I extend my gratitude and appreciation for the successful execution of this event. This Fun Run is part of an educational and socialization effort to foster love and pride for the rupiah and to promote widespread use of QRIS among the public,” he stated.

QRIS Summer Run 2025 was not just a sporting event, but also a smart campaign to raise public awareness on the importance of digital transactions through QRIS and plastic waste management.

QRIS for Registration

Advisor to BI Bali Representative Office, Indra Gunawan Sutarto, explained that all participants were required to use QRIS for registration as a form of hands-on experience with cashless transactions. Additionally, the event highlighted environmental issues through waste management education.

One of the standout innovations of the event was the use of damaged and unfit rupiah banknotes as the primary material for creating finisher medals. A total of 1,500 eco-friendly medals were successfully produced from recycling around 40 kilograms of shredded banknotes of various denominations.

This innovation made history and was officially recognized by the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) as the “First Running Medal Made from Recycled Banknote Waste in Indonesia.”

The MURI Operational Director, Yusuf Ngadri, personally handed over the record certificate to BI Bali, represented by Acting Head of the Bali Provincial BI Office, Butet Linda Helena Panjaitan, during a presentation ceremony at the event.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Muhammad Neil El Himam, expressed hope that events like this could become an annual agenda and evolve into part of Indonesia’s intellectual property.

The five-kilometer single-route run started from the East Parking Lot of Bajra Sandhi Monument, passing along Jalan Raya Puputan – Jalan Tantular – Jalan Cok Agung Tresna, and returning to the starting point. Regional Secretary Dewa Indra was also seen completing the entire route from the start to the finish line, earning his finisher medal alongside thousands of other runners.***
