ibnchannel.id – An American national was adrift at sea overnight on Tuesday (May 10, 2025). Initially, Petter Picetti Falcone and nine other tourists sailed from Serangan to Lembongan aboard the Haruku vessel at 3:30 PM local time. Shortly after arriving at the destination, he went jetskiing with supervision.
After two attempts, Picetti Falcone decided to jetski alone toward the west, around the waters off Sanur. By evening, he had yet to return. The Haruku crew initiated a search but to no avail. “The incident in Lembongan was reported to have occurred around 4:00 PM,” explained I Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue (SAR) Office.
The Denpasar SAR Office received information about the incident at 7:00 PM. That same night, a search was conducted using a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) with four personnel involved. However, the nighttime search yielded no results.
This morning, the RIB departed from the Navigation Pier at Benoa Port toward the Lembongan waters. At 7:30 AM, the captain of the Duta Lestari 08 vessel reported that the victim had been found safe in the waters near Uluwatu. At around 6:30 AM, the fishing vessel happened to be passing through the area and spotted the victim waving for help after his jetski had run out of fuel.
The discovery was promptly responded to by the joint SAR team, which was positioned at Tanjung Benoa at the time. “We received the report from an agent of the Duta Lestari 08 vessel passing through the Uluwatu waters, where the victim was immediately seen signaling for assistance and was towed by the fishing vessel toward the port,” Sidakarya explained.
Following communications with the Duta Lestari 08 crew, it was agreed that the victim would be transferred at Pandawa Beach waters. The process was briefly hampered by high waves, but at 8:10 AM, the victim was safely aboard the Denpasar SAR Office RIB and subsequently transported to the Navigation Pier at Benoa Port. The RIB operation was accompanied by an escort consisting of two RIB units from KPLP, one RIB unit from the Bali Regional Police Water Police, and one speedboat from the Benoa Water Police.
For further medical attention, the victim’s family requested that Petter Picetti Falcone be taken to BIMC Hospital using an ambulance from the BBKK Denpasar.***
