ibnchannel.id – After summoning producers of Bottled Drinking Water (AMDK), Bali Governor Wayan Koster’s commitment to implementing the Governor of Bali Circular Letter (SE) No. 9 of 2025 on the Bali Clean Waste Movement continues. To accelerate waste management in Bali over the next two years, Governor Koster gathered business actors across Bali and socialized the contents of the circular.

This was evident during the event titled “Governor of Bali’s Briefing on the Acceleration of the Bali Clean Waste Movement”, attended by various business stakeholders—hotels, restaurants, modern markets, and tourism managers—held at the Ksirarnawa Building, Taman Budaya Denpasar, on Friday (May 30).

On that occasion, Governor Koster urged all business players to commit collectively to preserving Bali’s nature and cultural heritage.

“Bali’s tourism is based on nature and cultural values. That’s what makes Bali attractive to international tourists. It’s also what I continue to fight for in my second term under the vision “Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali”. So all tourism players must support this,” said the Governor, a native of Sembiran Village.

One of his key initiatives in this second term is the Circular Letter No. 9 of 2025, which regulates waste management at its source, utilization of organic waste, and reduction of single-use plastics. To speed up the process of making Bali waste-free—targeted to be achieved within two years—businesses must immediately implement the circular.

“Business actors must start implementing it now—processing waste from the source, utilizing organic waste, and stopping the use of plastic bottled drinks under one liter. It has to be implemented starting today,” he emphasized.

He reaffirmed that preserving Bali is his responsibility, as the island’s economy relies heavily on tourism.

“It’s our joint duty to preserve Bali’s nature. If the environment is dirty, and business actors disregard Bali’s cultural values, tourists will certainly be reluctant to visit,” he added, emphasizing that this is a shared responsibility among the government, businesses, and the public, who must collaborate to implement the program.

To accelerate the program, the Governor has also formed a task force under his direct command to oversee all sectors in Bali and ensure compliance with waste management obligations.

He stressed that there is no alternative: the Bali Clean Waste Movement must start now for the good of Bali.

“This movement has even received direct praise from the Minister of Environment and Forestry, as Bali once again becomes a pioneer in environmental initiatives. So there’s no other option. Starting now, I ask all of you to work with me “lascarya”, in both physical and spiritual realms, sincerely, earnestly, and truthfully, for the sake of “Gumi Bali”. Start the Bali waste-free movement in your surroundings using company funds, so we don’t need much time to realize a clean Bali,” he affirmed.

In addition to explaining the Bali Clean Waste Movement, Governor Koster also emphasized that to achieve high-quality and sustainable tourism, he will also pursue clean energy use in Bali, which must be adopted by all business players moving forward.

Furthermore, he repeatedly reminded tourism businesses to focus on culture-based tourism—by incorporating Balinese script, traditional attire for workers, offering services with signature Balinese hospitality, and presenting high-quality traditional Balinese arts, not merely for formality.***
