ibnchannel.id – A resident of Parangan Jepang Ceningan is suspected of falling into the sea while fishing on the cliffside. Rofinus Gheda Piku (48) left for fishing on his Vario motorcycle on Friday (May 23, 2025) around 8:00 PM WITA.
According to a witness, Piku did not return by morning. When the witness checked the location, his suspicions were further confirmed when the motorcycle was found. The witness then searched the surrounding area of the cliff and found a jacket and fishing equipment.
The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office only received information about the incident today, Saturday (May 24, 2025) at 12:10 PM WITA. “We received the report from Mr. Kusuma, from the Nusa Penida Police, stating that a fisherman had fallen into the sea in Parangan Jepang Ceningan, Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida District,” said I Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office. In response to the report, four personnel from the Nusa Penida SAR Unit were dispatched to the location using a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).
After the first search sortie, the joint SAR team has not yet found any signs of Rofinus Gheda Piku. According to the coordinator of the Nusa Penida SAR Unit, Cakra Negara, the weather at the location was partly cloudy, but the waves in the search area could reach up to 3 meters.
“When the tide was low, the current was very strong, heading southwest from the incident location,” said Cakra Negara.***
