ibnchannel.id – PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia or ITDC continues to strengthen its role as a developer and manager of sustainable tourism areas through community empowerment programs in The Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). On Thursday (15/5),
ITDC carried out a series of activities targeting three strategic pillars of development, namely social empowerment, increasing security capacity, and strengthening local economic institutions. General Manager of The Mandalika, Wahyu M. Nugroho said that this approach is part of a structured effort to make The Mandalika an area that is adaptive to community needs.
“We design steps to answer real needs in the field, starting from strengthening farmer organizations, improving the quality of security services, to supporting social facilities such as places of worship,” said Wahyu.
In the local economic sector, ITDC facilitates an institutional training program for the hydroponic farmer group “Hydroku”, by presenting speakers from the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Mataram (Unram).
This program aims to form organized hydroponic farmer groups, strengthen organizational structures, financial systems, and production and marketing strategies.
This advanced training is the first step to change individual work patterns into solid and sustainable institutions, so as to improve farmer welfare and regional productivity. Irwan Muthahanas, Lecturer at the Faculty of Agriculture, Unram, said, “We appreciate ITDC’s initiative in encouraging the strengthening of local farmer institutions.
The formation of institutions will make farmers more organized in terms of production, marketing, and financial management, so that their businesses can be sustainable and have an economic impact.”
Increasing Security Capacity through Integrated Training In order to create a safe and tourist-friendly regional environment, ITDC also held training for ITDC security officers. The training lasted for three days, namely on May 15, 17, and 19, 2025, attended by 35 participants per day and accompanied by one platoon commander.
The training materials included socialization of the use of the e-patrol and MSiap applications to support the digitalization of the regional patrol system, as well as hospitality training to strengthen the role of security officers as the vanguard of visitor services. This initiative is a real step by ITDC in creating a tourism area that is not only safe, but also professional, visitor-friendly, and world-class.
Social Support for Community Worship Facilities in Kampung Hijrah Silaq, Kuta Village As part of its corporate social responsibility, ITDC also provided assistance to the Salahudin Al-Akbar Mosque in Kampung Hijrah Silaq, Kuta Village, Pujut District.
The assistance in the form of 50 sacks of cement and 3 trucks of sand (equivalent to 12 m³) was distributed through the ITDC Community Development program in response to damage to the retaining wall of the mosque due to extreme weather. This mosque was built independently by the community since April 2021, and previously received ITDC support in the form of floor tiles. This continued assistance is expected to strengthen the function of the mosque as a center for spiritual and social activities for the local community.
Commitment to Inclusive and Sustainable Development This series of activities reflects ITDC’s commitment to continue to be present and grow with the community around The Mandalika area.
“Through the activities that have been carried out, we want to show that ITDC is present and growing with the community. With a collaborative approach and based on field needs, ITDC continues to be committed as a developer and manager of areas that not only focus on tourism development, but also human development and local communities,” concluded Wahyu.***
