ibnchannel – A total of 152 overstaying Indonesian citizens who were deported from the Syumaisi Immigration Detention Center (Tarhil), Mecca, Saudi Arabia, have arrived in Indonesia on May 1, 2025. These Indonesian citizens were repatriated via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, using commercial flights.
Quoting from kemlu.go.id, Saturday 3 May 2025, most of them are non-procedural Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who experienced legal and immigration problems while in Saudi Arabia. This deportation process is the result of intensive coordination between the Indonesian Government and local authorities.
The Indonesian Consulate General in Jeddah also provided direct assistance, including in processing travel documents, coordinating with local authorities, and accompanying the Indonesian citizens until the repatriation process to Indonesia.
Of the total 152 Indonesian citizens who were repatriated, there were 130 women, 13 men, and 9 children/toddlers. Most of them come from provinces with high migration rates such as West Java, West Nusa Tenggara, and other regions.
The facilitation of this repatriation is coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with a number of agencies. To date, the Indonesian Government has facilitated the repatriation of 1,304 Indonesian overstayers from Saudi Arabia, divided into seven waves.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs again appealed to Indonesian citizens who wish to work abroad to follow official and legal procedures in order to avoid legal risks and immigration violations in the destination country.***
